Standup, live and on vinyl

I recently saw Zoltan Kaszas at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, after seeing him last fall (er, fall of 2024) at Comedy Bar Danforth. Zoltan was someone who started showing up in my social reels and I really enjoyed, so have been excited to watch his career grow.

Seeing him live, I thought he did a great amount of local material – though it makes sense, as his wife’s family lives in the GTA. That said, I’m not really one to join meet and greet lines post-shows. My companion wanted a shirt, so I diligently joined the merch line and said I’d buy a record if Zoltan had one for sale.

Lo and behold, he did have a copy of his latest album, and I shared that I always bought vintage standup records when thrifting and had a selection including Jonathan Winters, Joan Rivers and even a Richard Pryor but had never actually listened to any all the way through. Zoltan shared he also liked to buy vintage records (was this true or just good customer-service, who knows!?), so a good bonding experience.

I did say that I would listen to his record (is this true, or will I simply listen on Spotify sometime, who knows!?) and would definitely recommend if you like the same standup as I find funny.
